Karl Qin, President and the founder

Mr. Qin is a highly experienced executive in global business development, partnership & commercialization in life science industries. He has more than 17 years of management experiences at leading biotech, specialty pharma and top medical institutes. Highly accomplished in striking corporate alliances and ventures, Mr. Qin has negotiated and closed over 20 commercial transactions with a large number of global health care organizations including Pfizer, Lilly, BMS, Myriad Genetics, Millennium, Mentor and Bausch Lomb, etc.

In his career, Mr. Qin has serviced in senior management positions at a number of life science organizations.  Mr. Qin served as Vice President of Biopharma Products at Nanobiosym Diagnostic, Inc (Medford, MA), responsible for commercial operation of its Biopharma product lines.  He had also served as VP of Commercial development at CHI Scientific Inc., a bioscience company in Maynar, MA.

From 2005-2007, Mr. Qin was the Director of Business Development at Genzyme Corp (Cambridge, MA) where he led overall business development functions. At Genzyme, he established and managed a cross-functional team responsible for new product licensing, acquisition and portfolio management. As the chief negotiator, he was instrumental in establishing global partnerships with biopharmaceutical and medical device companies.

Before Genzyme, Mr. Qin was Sr. Director, Business Development at Control Delivery Systems, now Psivida (PSDV), a specialty pharmaceutical company based in Watertown, MA.  At CDS, Mr. Qin was fully responsible for new product planning and corporate alliances. He played critical roles in establishing and managing all CDS’s commercial alliances in ophthalmology, oncology and interventional cardiology.

Prior to his tenure at CDS, Mr. Qin was Director, Technology Transfer at MD Anderson Cancer Center (Houston, TX), the largest cancer center in the U.S. There he managed technology licensing and venture start-ups for medical innovations developed at MD Anderson.

Mr. Qin is a co-founder of a number of life science companies, including Genee Group, NeoBiomed Inc., Wuhan bioanalytical, and NanoMDx Inc. He currently serves on the Board of NanoMDx, Advisory Board of CHI Scientific, and as General Secretary of OCEAN (Overseas Chinese-American Entrepreneur Association).    

He received his Master’s degree in Business Administration from Rice University; M.S. in Molecular & Cellular Biology from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and graduated from Wuhan University in China with BS in Molecular Biology & Virology.

PC Zhu, Ph.D., MBA

Dr. PC Zhu has extensive experience in biomedical research and commercial development in both US and China. In his years as a medical researcher at Harvard Medical School, he made a number of significant research discoveries, some of which have been featured in prestigious scientific. Several technological inventions from his bioresearch are currently being applied by leading US biopharmaceutical companies such as Alnylam and Invitrogen.

Dr. Zhu was a marketing researcher at NetEase.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: NTES) from 2000 to 2002. He has been a consultant for VitalBiotech (a Hong Kong based public company) in area of new business and commercial development. Dr. Zhu is also consulting for several Hi-tech Parks in China. Dr. Zhu has co-founded a Boston based Biotech company and served as VP of operations. He is also a founder and served the Boston Biotech Club (250 members) as Chairman for five years.Dr. Zhu holds a PhD in Molecular Genetics from Fudan University, China; and MBA from University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.
